What a 5.0 does
- Keeps unforced errors under five a set
- Plays the lob as an attacking shot, not only as defence
- Finds the weaker opponent and keeps finding them
What a 5.0 does not do yet
- Change tactics mid-set without losing rhythm
- Win the long points against tournament players
- Finish with the smash from most of the court
What to work on next
Use the lob better. It is the most undervalued shot at every level, and at 5.0 it is the one that moves a good pair off the net. Lab note: the lob is the best shot and the most overused.
On the other scales
The converter files 5.0 under Advanced: strong club regular: few unforced errors, weapons on both sides. That reads as MATCHi 7 and LTA 5.0; Padel Mates uses the same 0 to 7 numbers as Playtomic. None of it is official, and the bands hold to about half a point. Convert any number.
How the number moves
At this end of the scale a win against a weaker pair moves you almost nothing: the level climbs only against pairs at or above it. Under five unforced errors in a set is at least a 4. The long version is in padel levels explained.
Test it
In Padel: The Game a 5.0 meets the 1600 PELO pair, Carla and Diego (regional). Every short ball is punished and they do not tire. The right shot and the right side, every time.
The daily Scenario is filed by level, and the advanced ones are the fair test at 5.0. One from the bank:
