Playtomic 1.0: rallies begin

At 1.0 the rules are known and rallies of four or five shots happen every game. Points still end on errors, most often in the net or on their glass before the bounce, and players stand wherever the last shot left them.

What a 1.0 does

  • Keeps score and serves from the right side without being told
  • Rallies from the back with the forehand
  • Plays a ball off the side glass when it comes kindly

What a 1.0 does not do yet

  • Wait for a ball to come off the back glass
  • Move up or back together with a partner
  • Lob on purpose

What to work on next

Let the ball come off the back glass. It feels wrong for weeks, and it is the habit that separates padel from tennis in the first year. Padel wall play: how to stop being afraid of the glass.

On the other scales

The converter files 1.0 under Complete beginner: brand new: learning the serve, the score and where to stand. That reads as MATCHi 1 and LTA 1.0; Padel Mates uses the same 0 to 7 numbers as Playtomic. None of it is official, and the bands hold to about half a point. Convert any number.

How the number moves

New players swing: until the reliability figure next to your level passes about 85 percent, two bad evenings can take half a point off. Play, enter every result, and let it settle. More than ten unforced errors in a set puts a player at 2.5 or under. The long version is in padel levels explained.
